Florida Atlantic University's athletic department will host a baseball celebration on Monday, May 31 at noon in the Founders' Lounge, located on the second floor of the Tom Oxley Athletic Center.
Fans wishing to congratulate the team on the 2010 regular-season Sun Belt Conference title are invited to attend.
FAU captured its first Sun Belt Conference regular-season title after going 21-9 in the conference. Overall, the Owls stand 34-20 on the season and are one of two teams still without a loss in the Sun Belt Conference Championships. The team is scheduled to play at 5 p.m. on Friday for a spot in the championship game.
Head Coach John McCormack was named the SBC Coach of the Year and junior right fielder Andy Mee and junior first baseman Dan Scheffler received first team all-conference honors. Junior pitcher Mike Gipson and junior shortstop Nick DelGuidice were named to the league's second team.
The NCAA field of 64 will also be announced on ESPN at 12:30 p.m. and it will be at this time that the Owls will find out if they will be competing in next week's NCAA Division I Regional. There are 16 regional sites that are comprised of four teams in a double elimination format.
