GAINESVILLE, FL - Ashani Roberts' third place finish in the triple jump was the high finish as the Florida Atlantic track team competed at the Tom Jones Memorial Classic over the weekend.
Roberts' mark of 39 feet, two and a half inches bettered the fourth place finisher's distance by more than nine inches. Patricia Gumbs finished fourth in the 800 meters in 2:09.62, breaking 2:10 for the second time in her career. Jennifer Holly's height of 12 feet, eight and a half inches was good enough for fifth in the pole vault, setting a school record in the process. The mark is the 2nd best in the conference and the 31st best in the East Region this season. Brooke Guy's height of 11 feet, six and a half inches, is a personal best for Guy and is the 10th best height in the Sun Belt this season.
Lisa Leutner's time of 4:36.74 in the 1,500 meters is 3rd in conference this season. Lindsay Lucas has improved her time by 19 seconds during the outdoor season and is currently 10th in conference. The 4x400 meter relay team of Annalisa Myers, Gumbs, Toyria Mattear and Charlene Luxama finished in 3:50.91 to place fourth in the race. Myers competed for the first time since suffering an injury prior to the UCF Invitational.
The Owls will head to Philadelphia, PA to take part in the 116th Penn Relays next weekend.
