Shooting its lowest round of the weekend, the Florida Atlantic University women's golf team finished a strong fifth place in the 18-team University of Cincinnati Invitational in Crystal Lake, Fla.
The Owls recorded a 304-stroke team score during Saturday's final round to tally a 924-stroke tournament composite score. The University of Illinois captured the team title with an 893 score.
Freshman Marilyne Cadieux shot a career-low one-under-par 71 on the 6,032-yard, par-72 layout at the Plantation Inn Golf Course. She improved her score in each of the three rounds to finish in a tie for ninth place among the top individual players.
Senior Jennifer Norton carded a six-over-par 78 round on Saturday to add with the two scores of 76 during Friday to finish in a tie for 13th place with a 230-stroke score.
Other Owls competing in the tournament included junior Elisabetta Bertini, who had 77-stroke scores during the first and third rounds to finished with a 232 score; sophomore Karine Bolme, who shot consistent rounds in the 70s to tie for 28th (234); and freshman Anna Wiklund, who has a 82-stroke round on Saturday.
FAU will return to the course on April 10 to compete in the two-day Sun Trust Gator Women's Invitational at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
