BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic track team had eight top-10 finishes at the Hurricane Invitational over the weekend. Jennifer Holly (pole vault) and Ashani Roberts (triple jump) finished second in their respective events for the highest event finished of the weekend.
"We had a lot of people running more than one event and for them to compete this well bodes well for us for the rest of the season," said head track coach Alex Smolka.
The 4x400 meter relay squad of Toyria Mattear, Charlene Luxama, Patricia Gumbs and Toni Jackson ran a 3:49.24 to finish fifth.
"Given what other teams in the conference have run, we feel that our relays can really run with anyone," Smolka said.
Several members of the men's cross country team set personal records in the men's 5,000 as unattached runners.
FAU will travel to Orlando, FL to take part in next weekend's UCF Invitational.
