The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to Columbia University of the Ivy League on Thursday at Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton.

The Owls dropped to 7-9 on the season and the loss ended a two-match winning streak.

Sophomore Dominique Wimmer picked up FAU's only point of the match with a three-set victory at No. 5 singles. She won a third set tiebreaker 10-7 after winning the opening set 7-5.

"We lost as a team but Dominique was able to pull out the win for herself," said Women's Tennis Head Coach Marcy Hora-Cava. "She played well in picking up the victory. Columbia is a strong team."

Fellow sophomore Erika Mrazkova also forced a third set by rallying to win the second frame 7-5. She lost the tiebreaker by a narrow 10-8 score.

In doubles, the duo of Justine Humair and Cassie Bergeson fell 8-6 at the No. 1 position to the Lions' top duo of Nicole Bartnik and Katarina Kovacevic.

FAU returns to the court on Wednesday, March 24 against Wright State University, starting at 2 p.m., at Patch Reef Park.
