BOCA RATON, FL - Eszter Bucz has become a regular among the honorees for Florida Atlantic University Athletic Student Athlete of the Week. This week was no exception as the sophomore from Hungry earned the female honors. New to the honorees is Raymond Taylor, a sophomore from Miami, FL.
Bucz won six events against strong competition to continue her impressive season. She won four of the six races she competed in the FAU Invitational and in a dual meet against Clemson. The sophomore scored one-second margin victories in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.21) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.32). Bucz concluded the FAU Invitational by touching the wall first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.21). Against Clemson, Bucz won the 500-yard freestyle (5:04.85) by nine seconds, a three-second triumph in the 200-yard individual medley (2:08.20) and a two-second win in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.60). Bucz has won all but five races she has competed in this season.
Raymond took full advantage of his first two starts of the year, helping the FAU men's basketball team to its first 2-0 start in conference play since 2006-07, its first season in the Sun Belt. He scored 24 in an overtime win over Troy and 20 in a two point win over ULM. The road wins were the first back-to-back road conference wins since that 2006-07 season.
