Women's Basketball Prepares for Season Opener

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team opens the 2010-11 season on Friday, November 12 at noon against Webber International University at the FAU Arena.
"We are very excited to get the regular season underway," said Chancellor Dugan, FAU women's head basketball coach. "We have been working very hard in the preseason and the ladies are ready to go."
FAU defeated Webber International with a score of 93-61 to open the regular season last year and returns two starters and five players from a season ago including the lead scorer Lyrell Barfield and shooting guard Teri Stamps.
In addition, nine newcomers in total replace eight graduated seniors from last season as FAU reloads their team under the guidance of Dugan.
The Louisville, Kentucky native will begin her 12th season at the helm of the FAU women's basketball program this Friday.
The Owls continue their opening weekend home stand on Sunday, November 14 at 2 p.m. against Kennesaw State University in the FAU Arena.
Live audio streaming will be available on www.fausports.com for all 27 womens' basketball contests this season with Jared Smith on for his second season of play-by-play.
