Fort Myers, Fla. - Junior Michael Baskovich carded his lowest round of the fall season on Monday to lead the Florida Atlantic University golf team to a 10th-place finish in the Renaissance Invitational in Fort Myers.
The Owls shot their lowest team score of the event with a 301 on Monday to finish the 54-hole tournament with a 908 score. Xavier University, the tournament's host, captures top team honors.
Baskovich shot an even-par 72-stroke round on the 7,063-yard Renaissance Inn Country Club course. The Clearwater, Fla. native lowered his score during each of the three rounds of the tournament and finished in a tie for 42nd place.
FAU's highest finisher was senior Kelly McHugh, who had three consistent rounds, highlighted by a two-over-par 74 in the final round. The senior used 225 strokes over the two-day event. Freshman Casey Matthews shot a 229, with his best round being a two-over-par 74 in the first round. Sophomore Stephen Quillinan and junior Justin Thompson rounded out the Owls' team score.
FAU will return to the links on November 8 when it begins play in the Stetson Invitational at the Victoria Hills Golf Club in DeLand.
