BOCA RATON, FL - Sanchez Hughley had career highs in points (19) and rebounds (11) while helping the Florida Atlantic men's basketball team to a 83-69 win over Troy on Thursday night. FAU (6-9, 2-2 Sun Belt) built a lead as large as 25 in the first half with Hughley scoring 12 points and Greg Gantt adding 16 for the Owls.
The Trojans (8-7, 3-1) attempted to mount a rally in the second half, but couldn't get closer than 14 in the second 20 minutes. Troy entered the night leading the Sun Belt in scoring at 81.1 points per game, but a tremendous team effort by FAU held them more than a dozen points below their average.
"It was probably our most complete game of the season," said head coach Mike Jarvis after the game.
Hughley had his second career double-double and Gantt tied his career high with 24 points. FAU will wrap up their four-game homestand against ULM on Saturday. The game will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.
