BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's golf team moved up on the final day to finish 9th at the Inaugural FAU Spring Break Championship held at Gleneagles Country Club (6,722 Yards/PAR 71). It was the second consecutive day the Owls improved their team standing, as they moved up two positions in round 2 yesterday.

Kelly McHugh (74, 73, 68-215) improved his score everyday as well, finishing three under par in the final round. The sophomore vaulted up 16 spots with three birdies on the nine final holes. Freshman Justin Thompson (77, 71, 74-222) held steady in 33rd place and Ben Silverman (72, 75, 77-224) tied for 45th. Sterling Searcy Jr. (79, 75, 75-229) tied for 67th and Will Cottle (76, 84, 79- 239) concluded FAU's five scoring members.

David Ziglar (71, 73, 75- 219), one of six individuals in the tournament for FAU, had a solid showing as he tied 22nd place.

Maintaining first place throughout the inaugural FAU Spring Break Championship was the University of Illinois (277, 292, 278-847), who was the only team under par. The Fighting Illini also had the low-individual in Scott Langley, finishing eight under par.

The FAU golf team will have three weeks without competition before heading to Houston, Texas for the Sun-Belt Conference Championships on April 19-21.
