BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic softball team defeated Long Island University 5-0 in the final game of the FAU Kick-Off Classic.

The game was a scoreless tie until the bottom of the fifth when Amy Bukovich doubled in Ambar Jones and Jenna Schwarz to put the Owls up 2-0. FAU added three more runs in the sixth on a Schwarz RBI single and a two-run base hit by Ashlyn Parmerter.

The Blackbirds' best scoring threat came in the first inning when the first two runners reached, but Rose Gressley was able to retire the next three batters without surrendering a run. Gressley went the distance for her fifth career shutout.

The Owls return to action on Friday, February 13 when they take on Georgia Tech as part of the Lipton Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida.
