Owl Women Fall to Troy 58-52

Florida Atlantic University led through most of Saturday's contest with Troy on at FAU Arena. With two minutes left in the second half, Donette McNair hit two free-throws to put the Trojans ahead to stay as they defeated FAU 58-52.
Down by three in the first half, FAU went on a 10-0 run to put the Owls ahead for most of the game. Jaimie Givens put in two lay-ups to put the Owls ahead, and after two Jessica Knurick free-throws, FAU held their biggest lead of seven. FAU led 26-20 at the half.
The second half was a see-saw affair with the Owls unable to build on their six point lead. They struggled from the field, only hitting eight of 32 shots in the second half. The cold shooting allowed Troy to stay in the game until the final minutes. Up 50-46 with three minutes left, Brittnie Davis hit a three-pointer to cut the Trojan deficit to one point. On the next possession, Kylie Morrissy came away with a steal and got fouled. Her two made free-throws gave Troy their first lead since the first half at 51-50. On the next possession, Carla Stubbs would draw a foul and make one of two foul shots to tie the game at 51. McNair would follow that up on the next possession by drawing a foul on Knurick, her two made free-throws gave the Trojans the lead. They would not relinquish that lead as Teri Stamps missed a close jumper that would've tied the game, and McNair and Morrissy would ice the game on the line.
FAU (9-14, 6-7 Sun Belt) was led by Brittany Bowe, who scored 11 points. Knurick added her third double-double of the year, 10 points and 11 rebounds. FAU out rebounded Troy 44-41 but only shot 19 of 61 (31 percent) from the field.
Troy (11-12, 6-7 SBC) was led by McNair, who poured in a double-double, 15 points and 12 rebounds. Morrissy scored all 11 of her points in the second half as Troy shot 10 of 21 (47 percent) from the field in the final frame.
