SUNRISE, FL - A slow start doomed Florida Atlantic (5-5) on Saturday as they lost to Miami (11-1) 87-69.
UM scored the game's first six points and held an 18-8 lead midway through the first half. The margin was 20 at halftime as the Hurricanes shot 47.1 percent from the floor. A 10-0 run by the Owls cut the lead in half, but they couldn't get any closer.
Raymond Taylor led all scorers with 23 points. The Owls blocked a season-high 12 shots as a team on Saturday. FAU travels to Athens to take on the University of Georgia Bulldogs on Wednesday night. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
