BOCA RATON, FL - For the second year in a row, the Florida Atlantic women's basketball team will volunteer its time at a local food bank in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday. The Owls will spend two hours helping out at the Daily Bread Food Bank in West Palm Beach on Wednesday, November 25 from 8-10 am.
"We are very excited for the opportunity to give back to the community," said FAU head coach Chancellor Dugan. "The girls enjoyed themselves last season and it should be another great experience this time around."
FAU is also proud to announce a ticket discount for Tuesday's night game against Kent State. Any fan who brings a non-perishable food item to the game will receive admission for $1. The Owls and the Golden Flashes are scheduled to tip off at 7 pm.
Three days later, on Black Friday, the Owls will host their annual Thanksgiving Tournament as FAU will have a first round matchup against Fordham at 2 pm. The following day, the Owls will take on either San Jose State or Mississippi in second round of the tournament.
"The team looks forward to the Thanksgiving tournament every season and this year is no exception," said Dugan. "We have three great teams traveling to south Florida from all across the country and it should be two great days of basketball."
