The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's golf teams will conclude the fall schedule by competing in the Stetson University Tournament on Monday, November 2 and Tuesday, November 3, at the Victoria Hills Country Club in Deland.
The men's golf team is coming off a championship in the Bethune-Cookman Tournament that took place October 23-25 and a second-place finish at the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles Golf Invitational on October 12-13 - ranking the team 97th in the country by Golfweek magazine. FAU is the fourth highest team among Florida's Division I squads.
Individually, senior Ben Silverman leads the team with a 71.5 scoring average and has finished second individually in both of the team's October tournaments. The Thornhill, Ontario native carded a career-low 65 in the second round of the Bethune-Cookman Tournament. He has the fifth lowest scoring average in the Sun Belt Conference during the fall campaign.
Sophomore Carl McCauley is coming off a three-under-par 69 score and junior Kelly McHugh fired a 68 to help the Owls win the Bethune-Cookman Tournament by 16 strokes.
On the women's side, the team is fresh off a 12th place showing at the Pat Bradley Invitational that took place October 9-11. The tournament featured a strong field of South and Midwest teams. FAU is competing in its fourth tournament this fall and won the Lady Eagles Golf Invitational on September 21-22 for its first tournament title since 2007.
Senior Jennifer Norton leads the women's team with a 77.7 scoring average over 12 rounds this fall. That score was helped by strong, back-to-back rounds of 72 and 73 over the 54-hole in the Pat Bradley Invitational.
Freshman Marilyne Cadieux has shot a round in the 70s in both tournaments she has entered and Elisabetta Bertini shot her lowest round of the season, an even-par 72, last weekend.
The Stetson University Tournament will feature 36 holes on the first day and then a final 18-hole round on the second.
