TAMPA, FL (October 14, 2009) - The Florida Atlantic men's soccer fell to No. 12 USF 3-2 on Wednesday night at US F Soccer Stadium.
The Bulls (8-2-2) scored early and often in the first half with two goals in the first 16 minutes. The first came off the foot of Masani Sinclair in the 7th minute to give USF a 1-0 lead. The second tally came nine minutes later when Bernardo Anor scored his fifth goal of the season to put the Bulls on top 2-0.
After halftime, FAU cut the deficit in half when Rocco Pecora scored his second goal of the season in the 55th minute off a Darnell King assist to bring the Owls (4-5-2) within 2-1.
The Bulls would regain momentum later in the second half when Sebastian Thuriere scored his first goal of the season in the 83rd minute to put USF back on top by two goals.
The Owls showed some fight however as King further extended his team points lead in the 87th minute with his third goal of the season to pull FAU within 3-2. The Tampa, FL native leads FAU with eight points so far this season.
The Owls will be back at FAU Soccer Field on Saturday night in search of their first conference win against Western Michigan. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm.
