The Florida Atlantic University women's golf team matched its best round of the season by shooting a 308 in the second round as it finished in 12th place in a strong field during the 54-hole Xavier Invitational in Daytona Beach, Fla.
FAU shot a 316 in the opening and final rounds to finish four strokes behind Jacksonville University on the par 72 6,087-yard layout. Daytona State College captured the team title by seven shots with an 881 team score over Campbell University. Stetson University finished in third place.
Anna Wiklund led FAU's individual scores with a tie for 34th showing after three rounds in the 70s. She has now carded a round in the 70s in six straight rounds, highlighted by a four-over-par 76 during Sunday's final round.
Elisabetta Bertini finished in 40th place with a 234 composite score over the three days. She recorded the lowest round by an Owl this season with an even par 72 in the second round.
Jennifer Norton finished the tournament strong by firing two rounds in the 70s. Gina Larsen and Brooke McBoyle rounded out the team score for FAU.
The Owls return to the links on Oct. 26 in the two-day Pat Bradley Invitational in Fort Myers, Fla.
