With almost ideal conditions for a meet the Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swim team competed against Clemson University and top 25 opponent Louisiana State University.
The Owls struggled slightly throughout the day, but still posted many good performances. Ewa Jamborska and Kalina Neal teamed for FAU's best two swimmer finish in the 100 yard breaststroke, placing third and fourth. Stase Michota had one of the day's two seasonal best with a 10:29.43 in the 1,000 yard freestyle event. Other top three finishes included Jen Forcht in the 100 yard butterfly (58.92) and Lindsay Alexander in the 200 yard IM (2:09.67). The dive competition was held earlier in the day, where Lauren Harvath secured a second place finish in the one meter dive and a win in the three meter dive.
The men were led by Csaba Pek's fifth place finish in the 100 yard backstroke in 1:00.41, a team seasonal best. He also added a third place finish in the 200 yard IM (1:54.32). Rick Duran's efforts in the 1,000 yard freestyle placed him third with a time of 9:40.
Both the men's and women's squads will compete against six schools tomorrow at the FAU Invite. The FAU Pool is located at 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton Campus.
