BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University cross country team will open the 2008 season at the Greentree Invitational in Tropical Park in Miami on Friday, September 5. Hosted by the University of Miami, the women's 5K run will start at 6 p.m., followed by the men's four-mile at 6:40 p.m.
The Owls return 14 letterwinners from the 2007 squad. Taylor Reeves leads the men's squad, while Toni Jackson will be among the top returners for the women. However, the focus of the Greentree Invitational will be on FAU's freshmen, many of whom will make their collegiate debuts at the meet.
"It will be a chance for some of the younger runners to get their feet wet, and it's a smaller meet so it won't be as intimidating," said Alex Smolka, head cross country coach.
