BOCA RATON, FL - Anne Vaughan had 11 kills in Florida Atlantic University's three sets to one victory over Troy on Friday night.
The Owls won the first set 25-17, powered by five kills each by both Kala Abdell and Krystena Castro. Castro and Kristyna Dzmuranova both had three kills in the second set as FAU won 25-21 to take a two set to none lead. In the third set, the Trojans defens held the Owls to as many kills as digs and won the set 25-23. FAU trailed by as many as five points twice in the fourth set, but rallied to tie the match at 24 on their way to a 28-26 win. Troy had four players with double-digit kills, but Castro had a match-high 14 kills.
FAU (8-4, 1-0 Sun Belt) continues Sun Belt play on Saturday night when they host South Alabama. The match starts at 7 p.m. and live stats and webstreaming of the match will be available at fausports.com.
