FAU Athletics Assists in Fitness Festival

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University student-athletes continued the effort to give back to the community by recently volunteering at the 2008 Palm Beach Sports Commission Kids Fitness Festival at the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach.

Six FAU football players and "Owsley" the mascot participated in the festival and spent time with more than 6,000 kids for the seventh year. The players and Owsley gave area youth the opportunity to experience some of the drills that college football players complete daily. The participating FAU athletes also signed autographs, as complimentary posters and schedules were available.

FAU football will open the 2008 season at the University of Texas on Saturday, August 30. The home season opener will take place on Saturday, September 6 at 4 p.m. against the University of Alabama- Birmingham.
