After the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Championship in Muscle Shoals, AL, the Florida Atlantic University women's golf team stands in sixth place. The Owls shot a team score of 314 on the par-72, 6,064-yard Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals course.
Kimberly D'Andrea leads FAU after day one. The junior from Boca Raton, FL shot a 76 on the day. She stood at par after 13 holes but ended with four bogeys in the final five holes to finish tied for 12th.
Praewnapa Phol-Uayporn is one of eight players tied for 19th with a 78. She had three birdies in her round but a triple bogey on the eighth hole hurt the Bangkok, Thailand native.
Karine Bolme is one shot behind with a 79, while sister June Bolme shot an 81 and Gina Larsen finished with an 87.
The Owls will continue play in the three-day tournament on Tuesday as the team tries to improve on its third place finish from a year ago.
