Lindsey Alexander and Lisa Thompson picked up Swimmer and Diver of the Week honors for the Sun Belt Conference this week after helping lead Florida Atlantic University to wins over the University of Miami and Florida Gulf Coast University.
Alexander (Fort Myers, FL) earned two individual wins and two relay wins. The junior swam the first leg of both the 400-yard medley relay (3:55.40) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:31.09) with times of 57.46 and 52.73, respectively.
In her individual events, Alexander swam season-bests in both the 100 and 200 backstroke events to pick up two victories. In the 100 back, she posted a time of 57.13, more than one second faster than the second-place finisher. She followed that up with a time of 2:04.51 in the 200 back.
After being honored before the meet on Senior Day, senior Lisa Thompson (Livonia, MI) posted an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 280.20 on the 1-meter board. The score was also the highest this season in the Sun Belt Conference. On the 3-meter board, Thompson placed fourth with a 270.23.
The swimming and diving team will close out the regular season this week with meets at Florida State and the University of Florida. The conference championship meet will be held February 28 - March 1 in Nashville, TN.
