The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball trailed by as many as 21 points in the second half against Troy on Wednesday. However, the Owls came back and cut the lead to 2 with a minute and a half to go, but could get no closer, falling to the Trojans 62-57.
The Owls struggled from the field in the first half. FAU shot five of 26 shots from the field. The Trojans led at the break, 35-15.
FAU fell behind by 21 in the second half before going to full-court pressure. The pressure worked, and the Owls slowly cut the deficit. A Brittany Bowe jumper cut the lead to 38-23 at the end of a 6-0 run. Jaimie Givens hit two straight lay-ups with seven and a half minutes to go, the second lay-up cut Troy's lead to 49-41. With 2:45 in the ballgame, Mercedes Thompson hit a three-pointer that cut FAU's deficit to 51-50. However, they would get no closer, as Morrissy hit another three to push Troy's lead to four, and after Audrey Muse hit back-to-back lay-ups, the Trojans would secure the victory.
Troy (12-16, 5-12 Sun Belt) had two players in double-digits, led by Morrissy's 20. Amy Lewis added 11 points for the Trojans, nine of which came in the first half. Troy forced 22 Owl turnovers and shot 40.4 percent (23-57) on the game.

However, they were unable to overcome their cold shooting start, as the Owls shot 21-68 on the game from the field (30.9%).
