The Florida Atlantic University women's golf team opened the 2008 season on Friday at the Sun Trust Lady Gator Invitational on Friday. June Bolme led the Owls with a score of 75 on the par 70, 5,907 yard Mark Bostick Golf Course at the University of Florida.
The Owls shot a team total of 320 and are 14th after the first day of competition in the 15-team field. Host Florida leads the tournament after shooting par through the first round. North Carolina's Sydney Crane is the individual leader after firing a 66 on the day.
Praewnapa Phol-Uayporn shot a 79 to finish second on the FAU squad behind June Bolme. Her score ties her for 48th. Elisabetta Bertini and Karine Bolme both finished the day at +13, while Gina Larsen finished with at +14.
The three-day event runs through Sunday.
