BIRMINGHAM, AL - UAB cruised to a 76-43 victory over Florida Atlantic Monday night in Birmingham. Paul Delaney III finished with 16 points, helping the Blazers build up the lead to 25 by halftime.
Florida Atlantic (4-8) falls to 0-7 on the road. Paul Graham III scored 16 to pace the Owls who were held to its lowest point total since November 27, 2000.
UAB (8-3) has won 18 of its last 19 at Bartow Arena under third-year head coach Mike Davis.
Delaney's team-high 16 points was complemented by 12 from All-America candidate Robert Vaden and 10 apiece from Lawrence Kinnard and Howard Crawford.
UAB raced out to a 13-4 lead in the early stages, but a Shavar Richardson jumper got FAU back into the game at 15-9 with 12:40 remaining before halftime.
Seven of Delaney's 13 first half points sparked UAB to a 15-0 run and the Blazers never looked back.
FAU went 3-for-20 from 3-point range and made just 16 of 56 shots (28%).
UAB led by as many as 37 in the second half and outscored FAU 42-8 in the paint.
FAU continues its road-heavy non-conference schedule with a game against the University of Kentucky (9-3) Saturday, December 27 at 3 p.m. ET in Lexington.
