DELAND, FL- The Florida Atlantic women's golf team tied for fourth at the Holiday Inn Express/Hatter Invitational in Deland, Florida. The tournament was held at Victoria Hills (par 72- 6,056 yards).

Entering the day two strokes back of third place Bethune-Cookman University, FAU (317, 315, 310-942) was able to close the gap and tie for fourth. "We played pretty well, besides our putting. I felt like we hit the ball really well. Putting hurt us the most at this tournament" head coach Joan Joyce said.

The Owls were without senior Praewnapa Phol-Uayporn, who was participating in the Duramed Futures Tour qualifying tournament. "It gave us a chance to play and gain experience for another player" Joyce mentioned of the absence of the Owls top golfer.

Elisabetta Bertini led the Owls with a 11 place finish, followed by Karine Bolme (14 place), Jennifer Norton (18), Kimberly D'Andrea (23) and Gina Larsen (30). Larsen saw her first action of the season.

The tournament marked the end of fall tournaments and will resume play in February. "We have to improve on hitting on the greens, ups and downs, and on our putting" Joyce said of off-season preparations for spring play.
