BOWLING GREEN, KY - Patricia Gumbs and Taylor Reeves were the high finishers for the Florida Atlantic University cross team as they competed at the Sun Belt Championships on Saturday. The women dropped a spot from last season, while the men improved two spots from 2007.
Gumbs led the women, finishing 17th in 19:42.20. Toni Shae Jackson was the Owls' next finisher crossing the finish line in 19:50.45 to take 21st. She was closely followed by Charlene Luxama in 19:57.07, good for 23rd place. Lindsay Lucas (20:37.05, 39th), Katie Quick (20:40.90, 40th) and Deanna Loafman (20:47.21, 42nd) all finished with seconds of each other to round out the results for the women.
Reeves was the high finisher for the men's team, taking 23rd place in 26:58.29. Timothy Haines completed the course in 27:18.01 for 30th place. Eric Dansky ran a 27:34.37 for 34th position. Kyle Butler, officially competing for the first time this season, finished in 42nd place in a time of 28:00.17.
Mohammad Razib (28:03.79/45th) completed the scoring for the Owls, with Jordan Dopkins (28:07.50/46th), Jay Salois (28:13.95/49th) and Stephen Dassin (28:15.23/50th) not too far behind.
The Owls' season continues on November 15, when they head to NCAA Regionals in Maryville, TN.
