Competing in her third and final NCAA Championships, Florida Atlantic University senior Ellie Weberg will return to her home state of Minnesota to try and claim a national title in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events this weekend. The Bloomington, MN native will compete on Friday and Saturday and try to better her fourth place showings from last season.
Weberg advanced to the championships as a freshman and returned last season as a junior to advance to the finals. Her time of 1:00.55 in the 100 breast and 2:11.43 in the 200 breast earned her fourth place in both events and All-America status.
This year she will enter the meet with the seventh fastest time in the 200 breast (2:12.44) and 12th fastest in the 100 breast (1:01.49). Weberg will swim on Friday and Saturday in the meet that runs from March 8-10 at the University Aquatic Center at the University of Minnesota.
