MIAMI, FL - Lauren Shue took two distance events for the Florida Atlantic University women's swimming and diving team, as they battled hard against rival University of Miami in a 165.5-132.5 defeat on Friday.
Shue won both the 1000 (10:12.77) and 500 (5:01.02) freestyle events, helping FAU garner a total of 24 points on the day. The Fort Myers senior also swam the anchor leg of the second-place 200 free relay team, while finishing fourth in the 100 free.
Lindsey Alexander followed up a strong performance against Princeton a week ago with a win in the 200 backstroke (2:05.43). She finished second in the 100 back (58.20) and 200 IM (2:10.24), as well as swimming the lead leg on the runner-up 200 medley relay team.
Senior Jessica Lampkin won the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.37, securing the final top spot of the day for the Owls. Jennifer Forcht followed closely behind at 57.88 for a 1-2 FAU finish in the event.
Lauren Harvath and Lisa Thompson each earned runner-up finishes for the divers, with Harvath scoring 247.95 in the one-meter and Thompson posting a 239.63 in the three-meter to round out FAU's top performances on the boards.
Florida Atlantic now tunes up for its biggest event of the fall, the Georgia Tech Invite. The three-day event takes place November 16-18 at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center in Atlanta.
