Coral Gables, FL - Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team took part in the Hurricane Fall Invitational held in Coral Cables over the weekend.
FAU faced North Florida and Georgia Southern during the tournament. The Owls' matches on both Friday and Saturday bled over into the next day due to rain.
The Owls' young players continued to impress with their performance over the weekend. Freshmen Corey Smith and Olivier Sajous won all of their singles matches during the tournament. The Owls' veteran players also played well as junior J.P. Bounassar won all of his matches in the tournament.
Saturday's victory over Georgia Southern was due in part to all four freshmen winning their matches, including Lawrence Harradine coming from 8-3 down to win his third set tiebreaker 13-11 in his first collegiate singles match.
Head men's tennis coach David Komie said of his team's performance, "Olivier Sajous continues to beat other schools' top players. Lawrence coming back to win in his first collegiate match was great and J. P. didn't lose a match all weekend. The only disappointment was that we didn't get to play Miami, who was too tired to compete."
