Owls Defeat Toledo 5-2

Boca Raton, FL - Florida Atlantic University's women's tennis team captured four singles matches and the doubles point in the Owls 5-2 victory over Toledo, Tuesday afternoon at Patch Reef Tennis Center.
No. 2 and no. 3 doubles provided FAU its first double point victory of the season. Claudia Kecht and Elodie Wendling teamed once again and were the first to come off the court victorious with an 8-6 win over Myriam Cueva and Eunice Paravicini.
No. 3 doubles, Sandra Moreno-Perregaard and Danielle Simone had a hard fought match but clinched the doubles point with a 9-7 victory.
Taking the one point advantage into singles competition, Simone captured no. 3 singles versus Vivian Rivero 6-0, 6-1. Point two was Katherine Bartnik who defeated Sarah Horning at no. 5 singles 6-1, 6-2. Bartnik now holds a two-match win streak.
The match deciding point was scored by Elodie Wendling at no. 2 singles. Wendling, who also won at no. 1 doubles, defeated Eunice Paravicini 6-2, 6-2.
With the match under hand, Sandra Moreno-Perregaard defeated Sarah VanderMolen for the 5-2 final.
With the victory, the Owls improve to 1-6 on the season and give first year FAU head coach Mary Dailey her first win. FAU will next play 1 p.m., Friday, March 10 at Patch Reef Tennis Center.
