Florida Atlantic University's women's swimming and diving team captured its first Sun Belt Conference Championship on Saturday, knocking off perennial power Western Kentucky for the first time since 2000. Ellie Weberg and Kevin Bartell were named the conference Swimmers of the Year and Steve Eckelkamp was named Coach of the Year
Ellie Weberg swept the breaststroke events with a win in the 200 breast. The junior broke her own school record and set an NCAA B Standard time with a 2:14.48 to pick up 20 points for the women.
In the 1650 free, the FAU women took the top four spots. Lauren Shue led the charge with a 17:02.75, followed by Brittany Fabry (17:13.28), Jenny Harms (17:13.31) and Yassmin Siggins (17:19.25)
Eren Onurlu captured the 100 free with a conference record and NCAA B Standard time of 44.64.
