BOCA RATON, FL (December 5, 2006) -- Alicia Tirelli, a junior forward on the women's soccer team at Florida Atlantic University, was named to the 2006 SoccerFLA.com All-Florida Women's Team, the website announced over the weekend.
The Brandon, FL native led the Owls in scoring with 11 goals and five assists for a total of 27 points, all career-high marks. Her 11 goals and 27 points surpass her career totals from her first two seasons.
It is the second-consecutive year an Owl player has earned the honor. Last season, Susanna Lehtinen earned a spot on the squad with her 10 goal, 10 assist season.
The Owls battled injuries throughout their initial Sun Belt Conference campaign, but still managed to finish at 11-8-2, falling in the second round of the conference tournament to eventual conference champion Denver, 2-0. They posted a seven-game winning streak near the end of the season, posting six shutouts during the stretch and eight on the year.
