FAU Dominates Alabama State 84-54

Birmingham, AL - The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team snapped a seven-game losing streak on Tuesday afternoon, thrashing Alabama State, 84-54, in the consolation game of the Blazer Invitational.
"We dedicated ourselves to running the offense today," said Head Coach Chancellor Dugan. "We controlled the boards and the entire team played lady owl basketball, which contributed to our success tonight."
Mistoria Brown netted a game-high 22 points with seven rebounds. She shot a near perfect 11-of-12 from the charity stripe. Sally N'Diaye had a season-best 11 points and six rebounds to pace the Owls post game.
Andrea Taylor had a stellar performance running the point, with a career-high seven assists to go along with five steals, five points, and five rebounds.
The Owls held the games early tempo, building a lead as big as 23-12 with 10:12 to play in the first-half. Alabama State fought back and cut their deficit to 27-25 with 5:53 left after a L'Teisha Holloway lay-up. FAU reasserted itself as the half winded down, using a 12-4 run to head into the break up 41-29.
In the second frame Florida Atlantic ran away with the contest, generating a 27-7 run to start the half that featured seven different Owls registering points. Their lead would grow as big as 33 points, 84-51, with under one minute to play. Each player finished the contest with at least one rebound.
FAU set several season highs with the victory. Their 27.8% field goal percentage against and 54 points allowed was their top defensive effort this year. The Owls 20 assists and 57 rebounds were also a season best.
