On Saturday, the Florida Atlantic University swimming and diving teams hosted the FAU Invite at FAU Pool. The women's team captured the meet by picking up dual meet wins over the College of Charleston, Cincinnati and Denver. The team picked up 14 wins in 16 events.
The FAU women started the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay by more than four seconds with a time of 1:46.71. Lauren Shue, Geni Burts, Ellie Weberg, Bianca Murphy and Lauren Harvath all followed that performance with two individual ones apiece. A distance free specialist, Shue took the 1000 free (10:17.54) and 500 free (5:01.46) while Bianca Murphy took the sprint free events with times of 24.64 in the 50 free and 52.67 in the 100 free.
An NCAA Championship participant last season, Weberg won the 100 breast by more than four seconds with a time of 1:03.30. She followed that performance up with a win by more than eight seconds in the 200 breast (2:16.09).
Geni Burts took the 200 free (1:54.57) and 200 IM (2:08.86), while Lindsey Alexander won the 100 back (58.84), Shawna Griffith the 200 fly (2:06.68) and Jennifer Forcht the 100 fly (57.72)
In the diving events the women also did well as Lauren Harvath won both the 1- and 3-meter events with scores of 250.8 and 239.05, respectively.
Jonathon Pinto led the men with two second place finishes in the 100 back with a time of 53.52 and 200 back (1:54.71). Eren Onurlu took the silver spot in the 50 free by touching the wall in 21.41.
FAU will be off for the holidays before hosting the second invitational of the winter on January 3 when Clemson and Missouri State visit Boca Raton.
