Swimming and Diving Host Invite

On Saturday the Florida Atlantic University swimming and diving teams will host the FAU Invite at 10 a.m. The College of Charleston, Denver University and the University of Cincinnati will compete against the Owls.
The Pioneers, a fellow Sun Belt Conference member, split with the Owls in Boca Raton during last year's regular season. The FAU women's team picked up a victory and then defeated the Pioneers at the conference tournament to win the university's first Sun Belt Conference Championship.
On the men's side, FAU finished third behind Denver at the conference championships.
Entering the week, the FAU women are listed no. 2 in Collegeswimming.com's Top-25 Division I Mid-Major Poll, while the Pioneers are 13th. The FAU men are ranked 16th and the Denver men are third.
Entering the week, the FAU women hold top conference times in 11 events. Geni Burts holds three of the top spots. Burts posted times of 1:51.7 in the 200 free, 2:05.2 in the 200 IM and 4:25.5 in the 400 IM. In the 500 free and 1650 free, Lauren Shue holds the top times in 4:55.5 and 15:52.7, respectively. Other leaders are Ellie Weberg in the 200 breast (2:14.3), Bianca Murphy in the 100 free (52.38), Shawna Griffith in the 200 fly (2:04.7) and Lindsey Alexander in the 100 back (57.33).
The 400 free relay (3:31.7) and 200 medley relay (1:45.7) both have the fastest times in the league.
On the men's side, Eren Onurlu has the fastest time in the 50 free (20.49) and second fastest in the 100 free (45.23). In the 200 breast, Kyle DeCicco holds the second fastest time in the 100 breast after swimming a 57.66 in the 200 breaststroke.
The team's next competition will take place on January 3 when FAU hosts Clemson and Missouri State.
