FAU to Run Split-Squad Weekend

BOCA RATON, FL --The harriers from Florida Atlantic University will split up this weekend as they continue the 2005 season.
Some of the women's cross country team will head to Cary, NC to participate in the Great American Cross Country Festival, while the rest of the team will head down to Miami, FL along with the men's team to participate in a tri-meet with host Florida International and Miami.
"Our main goal is to see how well we match up to Campbell. They are a big conference opponent, and this race will give us a chance to see how good they are," head coach Alex Smolka said.
The Cross Country Festival race is scheduled for Saturday at 9 a.m., while the FIU tri-meet is scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m.
"The FIU meet is a great opportunity for both the men and our younger women to gain some experience. We are mostly looking to use the competition as a time-trial and a training exercise," Smolka said.
