MIAMI, FL -- Javier Carillo earned a hat trick and Walter Yoder chipped in a pair of goals as Florida Atlantic University men's soccer cruised to a 6-0 win over Xavier on Friday at the FIU Diadora Classic
After getting shut out each of the previous two games, the offense exploded, scoring three times in each half. Paul Sojo scored the sixth and final goal in the 76th minute.
Carillo scored his first goal of the season in the seventh minute off a feed from Ran Poliker. He would add his second 32 minutes later in the 39th minute off a rebound created by Poliker. He would go on to score his third of the night in the 63rd minute in a one-on-one situation with Xavier GK Liam Curran.
Yoder's goals came in the 42nd and 53rd minutes. The first was a shot that beat the keeper on the right side, and the second was on a penalty kick.
FAU goalkeeper Anders Granstad made four saves for his 10th career shutout.
The Owls (2-4) will square off with Alabama A & M on Sunday on the final day of the Diadora Classic. The game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
