By winning 10 events in Friday afternoon's swim meet, Florida Atlantic University defeated Florida International in Miami. Freshman Nicole Samilo led the way for the Owls with two wins in the 200 IM and 100-yard freestyle.
In the 200 IM, Samilo (Bradenton, FL) led the sweep of the event with a time of 2:09.84. Lindsey Alexander and Geni Burts took the next two spots by touching the wall in 2:10.82 and 2:14.96, respectively.
With a time of 53.99 in the 100 free, Samilo finished just ahead of teammate Bianca Murphy in 54.44.
Halle Kiehlmier won the 100 breast in 1:06.70, while freshman Lindsey Alexander won the 100 back in 1:00.57. Alexander was also part of the 200 medley relay that placed first in 1:51.35. She teamed with Ellie Weberg, Jennifer Forcht and Stephanie DeRito in the first win of the two relays. Yassmin Siggins, Danielle Kuykendall, Colleen Lehane and Shawn Griffith combined for the win in the 200 free relay (1:40.72) to close out the meet.
Griffith also took the 200 free (1:57.16) just ahead of three other FAU swimmers, Lauren Shue (1:57.46), Jennifer Forcht (2:00.80) and Colleen Lehane (2:03.29).
Other first place finishers for the Owls were Jenny Harms in the 1000 free (10:30.52), Bianca Murphy in the 50 free (24.91) and Lauren Shue in the 500 free (5:05.53).
FAU will face its toughest competition of the season this far when it travels to Florida on November 11.
