Geni Burts picked up two first place finishes in Friday's swim meet at Florida Atlantic University. The FAU sophomore led the team in a double-dual meet with the University of Puerto Rico and UNLV.
Burts won the 1000-yard freestyle in 10:19.23 and took top honors in the 400 IM in front of Shawna Griffith with a time of 4:27.83. Griffith led the charge in the 200 fly by touching the wall in 2:05.85.
Freshman Jessica Lampkin won the 100 free with a time of 53.17.
For the men, Ehren Onurlu won the 100 free in 47.65, while Matt Brody and Kenny Anderson both took second place in their respective events. Brody, a freshman from Plant City, FL, finished just .29 seconds behind UNLV's John Byers for second with a time of 1:45.67.
A junior captain, Kenny Anderson finished second in the 100 fly after touching the wall in 52.33 just ahead of Rich Marzonie with a time of 53.79.
The team will compete next Saturday and Sunday against Indian River Community College and the University of New Orleans.
