Florida Atlantic University is off to its best start since 1992 as the volleyball team closed out its first weekend of competition with a 3-2 win over Virginia Commonwealth. FAU's Krista Klawitter and Lauren McHugh were named to the All-Tournament Team as Klawitter closed out the tournament averaging 11.91 assists per game.
FAU (2-1) edged out the Rams (1-2) in the fifth game 15-12 after closely contested 30-18, 28-30, 30-28, 26-30 games. VCU managed to collect 15 blocks over the course of the match but FAU countered back with 104 digs. Makra Condill and Lindsey Bell finished both finished with career-high digs with 28 and 22, respectively.
Kelly Paiva picked up her second double-double of the tournament with 17 digs and 12 kills.
Cayse Kaveny had a career-high with 23 kills to lead the team offensively.
