Hello FAU OWLS, Alumni, and Friends,
Our university is on the verge of becoming a major force in the Florida university system. We can all be extremely proud of the growth and influence we are having under President Brogan in our local community and throughout Florida. New buildings are going up everywhere, academics are continuing to spiral upwards, and our athletic programs are building top-notch student athletes and champions.
Our main campus is turning into quite a beautiful, functional campus. The next time you see our president, Frank T. Brogan, please let him know you are behind him and all he is accomplishing. He has also given his blessing to expanding our Owl athletic programs and we have seen immediate results. Our teams compete for conference championships annually as well as earning positions in NCAA tournament play in many sports.
Coach Schnellenberger has the OWL football team on very solid footing. We are 8-3 in our first year as a D-1 team with our final game this Saturday at Pro Players stadium against our rivals, the FIU Golden Panthers. There are still great seats available so be there and support our OWL team and enjoy the best of college football.
Our athletic programs could not exist without our OWL fan's support. So the OWL athletic department, with the total support of all the coaches, have found a fun, convenient, and cost effective way for all FAU alumni, students, family and friends, to support our student athletes while they spend some of their best years on our campus. How can you do it--through our very own FAU OWL E-MALL. Yes, just shopping on your very own computer through a virtual e-mall of over 1000 stores and a million plus products while saving money and time...and best of all a small part of each purchase goes directly to our FAU athletic program for the benefit of our student athletes.
What an opportunity for you to participate in our OWL'S victories! I know we can count on you. How about sharing this message with everyone you know? We have BIG plans here in Boca and all will benefit the FAU community. Each week look for an interesting, personal story on one of our coaches, student-athletes, or staff that will better familiarize you with the new FAU. Next week we will be featuring Coach Schnellenberger, the father of OWL football. What a great man!
