For the second time this season, Florida Atlantic University swimmer Geni Burts has earned Swimmer-of-the-Week honors as announced by the Sun Belt Conference. The sophomore from Pembroke Pines led the women's team this past weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
Against some tough competition which included Georgia Tech, Tennessee, NC State, Miami and no. 3 Florida, Burts won the 400 IM with a season-best time of 4:24.58. She leads the conference in the event by more than five seconds. She also advanced to the finals of the 200 fly (2:07.86) and 500 free (4:56.72) to earn eighth and fifth place finishes, respectively. She also leads the conference in the 500 free.
As a part of the 800 free relay and 400 free relay, Burts helped guide the teams to fifth and sixth place finishes.
The swim teams will take the next month off to train before hosting the FAU Invite on December 18.
