Jackie Brown Set to Open the 2004-2005 Season

Jackie Brown is her name...hoops is her game. Sound familiar? She's not the movie star, but she just might become as famous in her own right if she keeps making those "smooth moves" on the court that gave her the nickname "J-Smooth".
As a criminal justice major at FAU, she has not gone undetected during her student athlete career as a Fighting Owl.
When asked why her teammates call her J-Smooth, she humbly replies, ... "Because passing is my strong suit. I love to get the ball to the scorers." She struggles to even admit how smooth she is, wanting instead to tell me more about her teammates. Jackie is looking forward to everyone contributing to all around team improvement as the Owls work for a great season this year!
Although she is a smooth passer and seems to be a natural at the game of basketball, Jackie had never even heard of FAU until Coach Chancellor Dugan began recruiting her. She loves the weather and the atmosphere in Florida but was not excited to leave her parents, her four brothers and sisters, and her home in northern California. Of course, her parents are elated that she is doing so well and will be visiting her Thanksgiving weekend anticipating seeing some of her signature moves she is so reluctant to brag about!
Once again our OWL athletes shine off the field as well. In fact, Jackie is more eager to talk about her interest in working with kids as a probation counselor than she is in talking about her basketball skills. Jackie will surely excel in her professional life as she shifts her motivation to succeed from the court to positively influencing young people. Go Jackie!
