Valeria Dalmastro became Florida Atlantic University's second swimmer to qualify for the Olympic Trials. The junior from Miami won the 50-meter butterfly and 100-meter freestyle at the Argentina National Championships.
In the 25-meter pool, her times of 28.9 in the 50-fly and 58.8 in the 100 free qualified her for the Pan-American Games and the Argentina Olympic Trials next summer. The Pan-Am games will be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in early August.
Dalmastro was a member of the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relay teams that broke FAU records at the 2003 National Independent Conference Championships, she also finished third in the 50-yard freestyle.
In addition, FAU's Howard Travis earned the opportunity to swim at the U.S. Olympic Trials when he posted a time of 1:04.17 in the 100-meter breaststroke earlier this summer.
