BOCA RATON, FL - Alena Dvorakova, Florida Atlantic University's no. 1 tennis player, has been named as the fifth alternate for the upcoming NCAA Individual Tournament. Dvorakova, ranked no. 67 nationally, led FAU to a team best 19-5 record and its first NCAA Tournament Appearance. The sophomore from Prague, Czech Republic has compiled a 20-1 singles dual match record and has won 20 consecutive matches. The NCAA Individual Championship is May 19-24.
Dvorakova has had several victories over ranked opponents. Her most note-worthy win was against Miami's Megan Bradley. Dvorakova, dropped the then no. 2 ranked Bradley, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. She has also recorded wins against the nation's 50th and 106th ranked players this year.
The Lady Owls face the University of Florida, March 9, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The match is set to begin at 2:00 pm in Gainesville Florida.
