Macon, GA. - After winning his first tournament of the spring and second of the year and leading his team to a fourth place finish at the Belmont Invitational, Matt Anderson was named the Atlantic Sun Men's Golfer-of-the-Week as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon. This is the second consecutive week Anderson has garnered this award, becoming the first golfer in program history to accomplish this feat.
Anderson, a senior from Tallahassee, FL, fired an opening round 67 at the Belmont Invitational to finish the first round tied for second. It marked the third time this spring that he has finished the first round in the top three. Anderson then shot rounds of 68-71 for a three round total of 206, his lowest total of the year, to finish the tournament first overall with a 68.67 scoring average. Anderson has now finished in the top-10 in four of the six tournaments this spring, averaging a 72 scoring average in those tournaments.
Anderson and the rest of the FAU men's golf team will continue play at the 2003 Atlantic Sun Championships being held on April 16-18 at the Indigo Lakes Golf Club in Daytona Beach, Florida.
