BOCA RATON, FL - After having a standout regular season, no. 67 Florida Atlantic University was rewarded by the Atlantic Sun Conference Monday afternoon. The league declared FAU the no. 2 seed in the conference tournament, giving the Lady Owls a first round bye. The tournament will begin on April 16, but FAU will not play its first game until April 17 at 2:00 pm. The Lady Owls will face either the no. 7 seed Georgia State or the 10th seed Mercer at Mandy Stoll Park in DeLand, FL.
Alena Dvorakova, 18-1 in dual match play, and winner of 18 consecutive singles matches, has led the Lady Owls this season to a 16-5 overall record, 3-0 in the A-Sun.
Joining Dvorakova with double digit dual match victories are four other Lady Owls. Krystel Borg has won 15 matches this spring while Maria Aguirre-Gomez, Tania Rivera, and Karolina Roubickova have won, 14, 12, and 11 respectively.
In doubles, seniors Aguirre-Gomez and Jessica Burrow have combined for a team best 10-1 record.
As a team, FAU has been hot of late, winning nine of its last 10 matches.
