BOCA RATON, FL - Tania Rivera, a native Puerto Rican, has been chosen to represent her country in the 2003 Federation Cup. This will mark the first year Rivera will participate in the annual tennis competition that pairs countries, not individuals, against one another in team style play. Rivera has helped FAU to a 15-4 record and a no. 67 ranking. The fifteen wins and the national ranking is the highest the program has achieved under third-year coach Caroline Hora.
Rivera, primarily used at the no. 3 or 4 spot in the lineup, boasts an 11-8 singles dual match record. The junior has been hot of late, winning eight of her last nine matches.
FAU as a team has been hot lately too. The Lady Owls have won eight consecutive matches. A streak the team hopes to carry over to Saturdays match at no. 60 Virginia Tech.
